Description of JukeNuX

JukeNuX is a minimalist LiNuX distribution for a minimalist PC to change it to a CD/MP3/OGG/AC3/DVD/WAV/AU/MIDI/MOD/SID/etc capable player, to a real Juke-box...

It stand of a Linux kernel (2.6.0-preXXX that time), with ALSA and BusyBox, AlsaPlayer, a menu framework, some other util software...

Tha main aim to create a "desktop" CD/etc player from an old PI/PII.

You need:

  • a main board (PI/PII)
  • a CPU (PI or PII Celeron) WITHOUT active (FANless) cooling
  • a power supply WITHOUT a cooler (cut wire!)
  • 64M or 128M or more RAM
  • CD/DVD drive (1 or more)
  • a sound card
  • some speaker (2 to 6 ;-)
  • a keyboard

You may want:

  • radio card
  • USB card reader (Flash, Smart, Multimedia, Secure, etc)
  • CD/DVD (re)writer
  • network card or a serial line for remote management
  • a floppy??

AND YES, of course JukeNuX.
